This particular back-and-forth stood out to me because the speaker appears to be especially didactic at this point. The other answers are much more direct, while this one makes the reader pause and think about it a little longer. The speaker is claiming that peace and security in the afterlife will be only as strong as the hard work that is put into this person’s faith before death. It is a moment for the reader to reflect on their life up to this point in time and question his or her level or productivity.
