Wolfe Poem 3 Annotation 2

(This extended metaphor of a poem refers to a specific aspect of religion at this point. It has to deal with the belief in Christianity that even though Christians are human and have sinned at some point (sin being indicated by the darkness), they will nevertheless be forgiven and redeemed after their sins have been washed away by the Holy Spirit at the end of the day.
