Who is the “he” the speaker is referring to at this point? It appears that the speaker is personifying the glacier. Why is this important? It adds an eerie feel to the poem with the word choice in defining the personality of the so-called “him”, which creates the entirety of the image of the broken town that is no longer once what it once was.
