Widespread Immigration Continues In Response To Extreme Violence
Because of the extreme violence during the Civil War, a huge proportion of citizens left El Salvador and immigrated north into other Central American countries and into North America.
It's estimated that about 25% of the country's population emigrated during the civil war between the years 1979 and 1992.
