Enuma Elish

“One of the most famous Mesopotamian mythological texts is Enuma Elish ('When on High' in Akkadian, also referred to as the Epic of Creation). This text discusses the origin of the earth, the gods, and the role of humans in the world....Enuma Elish served ritual purposes....the text was read on a regular basis as part of one of the important cultic festivals in ancient Mesopotamia.”1
