The young woman as the most integral family member acceptance

Bonnin places extra emphasis on the acceptance of the sister as the "young people rivet their eyes upon the young woman" (Bonnin 133-134). Young people are here tied to the success of reconnection, since the community cannot move on without the support of their children. Yet, this does not mean that the young peoples' support is disconnected from that of their elders--notice here how the sister can only come to agreement through the guidance of her father. He speaks to her as equals and gives reasoning of acceptance through the young man's deep connections to her brother, thereby giving the grounds on which the siblings' new relationship shall bloom.
