Early Indigenous Literatures

Motion and control belong to the central images.

The rider and their companion are the central figures in the painting and all else revolves around their gravity. Howe's ability to capture movement only further instill the core orienting power to these two figures. Although they are in the process of fleeing, the painting gives the sense that it is the horse and their rider who control the speed with which time moves. All else revolves around the motion of their inertia.
