Inheritance from the Great Spirit

Though “Warrior’s Daughter” would seem to emphasize biological ties due to Tusee’s lineage inheritance from her grandfather, such a claim is complicated by the fact that her “warrior-father’s heart” is a gift from the “Great Spirit,” rather than something she inherently acquires from biology (Bonnin 84). On one hand, biology is still recorded and links together Tusee and her relatives, but on the other it is not depicted as the *only* way in which belonging, kinship, and connections are established.
