Adams Title Page Annotation 1

When we look at the paratext for the sermon on Garret, it is pivotal to notice the ordering of the words so we can note what is prioritized first within the paratextual materials. The genre (sermon) is listed first, then the action of the execution, and then finally Garret is named. She is referred to as an Indian=servant. Instead of a dash, the punctuation connecting Indian to servant appears to be an equal sign, suggesting that the publisher deems Garret’s identity and servitude as equal.
