Project 3- Text Analysis

Just to prove that I have interests that go beyond baseball I included this project. For this project we had to transform a piece of written work into a zip file and plug it into a tool called Voyant. This tool takes the entire text and analysis it on a deeper level with things such as what words are used the most, or what phrases are used the most. Since I am an avid reader I was excited about this project so I might see something in a work that I had not noticed before. The text I chose to for analysis is my favorite Shakespeare play, Julius Caesar.

Now while all this might look fancy, this is the fist page of text analysis that Voyant gives you. To truly analyze it deeper I had to go thru the page to find something that I would I have not found by just reading the play itself.

The graph on the top shows how the most common words are related to each other, for instance Brutus is typically paired with Caesar and Cassius. The graph on the bottom is similar expect it focus on how the most common phrases are linked to one another.

This project forced me to look and a text that I had read and thought I had understood with a more critical eye and find out more from it.
