Content Displayed

Content is consistently well displayed, the research question is easily found under the abstract.

Presentation

The project has adequate visuals: images, videos, timeline, map. However, nothing seems to be overly engaging. That being said, the project is easily navigable, with many options for navigation present at the front page. The javascript buttons, graph visualization, and hyperlinked contents section all provide a good foundation for traversing this project.

Visualizations

The writing is clear with no mistakes, however the level of interactivity is not overly impressive. Granted, the layered custom Google map does provide an interesting visualization for the scope of Jazz programs that are offered in the United States. The Jazz History timeline also provides a similar visualization. In the end, however, there is still something lacking in terms of interactivity.

Accessibility

The site is easily accessible from both Mac and PC platforms, and is free to access. There are no broken points in the navigation and all hyperlinks are set-up correctly.

Sustainability and Growth

The Scalar platform allows for continuous update and development, however the long-run potential for growth and scalability will still lie within the confines of the Scalar environment.

Academic Importance

Admittedly, this is a final project for an introductory-level Communications course offered in a relatively-secluded liberal arts college in Upstate New York, and naturally will not carry as much academic weight as Post-Doc research done by seasoned Digital Humanists. However, this project undoubtedly plays a part in the growing sphere of the Digital Humanities, as a testament to the growth of the field and the Digital Humanities Initiative here in Hamilton College.

Credibility

All sources are cited within the working bibliography.
