Who am I?

I am in a constant search of who I am, who I want to be, how I survive in a world riddled in fear and hate and also beauty and adventure. Here is what I know:

I am an artist. I am an activist. I am a dreamer, a lover, an excavator of adventure and stories, a teacher and a learner, a dancer of life, a singer of beauty and sorrow, a feeler of deep emotion beyond explanation, a theatre artist - director, performer, designer - always searching for the next opportunity to use theatre for change, change in myself, change in my surrounding, change in my world.

I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, a doggie-momma, a future (human) mama, a mourner, a friend.

I am a wonderer, and a wanderer, although my seeking of paths is usually to further enrich humanity (but sometimes it’s just for fun). I am a laugher - a can’t-stop-gonna-pee-my-pants kinda laugher; I am a hugger, I am a hoper, I am a believer - in the good of people, the possibilities of real change, the ability to develop understanding and compassion through education, experience, and story (and also through opening of hearts).

I am an optimist amidst a serious reality check in myself. I am a balancing beam of supposed binaries but I’m on a journey to bridge gaps and unite that which I want in this world and that which is. I am scared to death but I can’t stop running at full speed toward that which scares me. I am leaping for joy and I am leaping out of necessity because I feel the weight of the world on my back and I care too much to shove it off.

I am a citizen, a community member, and a small chess-piece of revolution, waiting to team up with YOU so we can join forces in this moment of time which is minuscule, yet all I know. I am dreaming of a unified utopia, a utopia of yours and mine, and I’m handing you a paintbrush so we can paint this canvas together.
