Dream: Assignment 2

Choose two film versions of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Focus on scenes that depict the faeries and compare. Write a short analysis answering the following questions:

Do the faeries appear as malevolent or benevolent?
Do they match Renaissance ideas about faeries or contemporary ones, or something altogether different?
How does the fairie realm parallel the human one, particularly in terms of the play’s thematic concerns?
