Decoding Diaspora: Mapping J. A. Rogers' Mythic Africa

Use and Permissions

Fair Use

Decoding Diaspora operates under the fair use provision of Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act. The project is a digital transformation of the Research Director's family's collection of newspaper clippings from the out-of-print Pittsburgh Courier for educational and research purposes. The contents are limited to those clippings cut out, preserved, and collected by the Project Director's family, a curatorial process that itself is part of the matters being researched. Insofar as the collection is rapidly deteriorating, this digital project offers a mode of preservation and invitation to further research on the work of Joel Augustus Rogers and his readership. No copyright infringement is intended.

Licensing

As a digital humanities project, Decoding Diaspora is committed to the employ of open-source resources for analysis and Creative Commons licensing for purposes of production and engagement.
