This educational guide of the CSU Japanese American Digitization Project (CSUJAD) presents lessons and other educational tools using the textual, photographic, and audio-visual primary source materials residing in the CSUJAD Database hosted by the Gerth Archives & Special Collections at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The CSUJAD database incorporates photographs, correspondence, news digests, maps and more from Japanese American archives across fifteen CSU and UC campuses. Researchers, teachers, and students are strongly encouraged to use the database to support teaching and learning regarding the unjust incarceration of approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans from 1942-1946.

Lessons are constructed across two major topics presented as sections titled, "Testing Loyalties" and "In the Courts".  Each topical section provides readings and a timeline to give teachers and students fundamental background knowledge associated with the lesson activities.
