Colorado Chicano Movement

Welcome to a brief journey through the Colorado Chicano Movement in the 1970's and early 1980's when a centralized effort was made throughout the state to raise the standards of how Chicano children were educated, the community was valued and motivated Chicano's to appreciate their culture for its uniqueness.
Mainstream media was not available to the Chicano community, therefore, writers, artists, poets, musicians, and community leaders used any outlets they could find to spread the information crucial to the movement and make sure that the Chicano voice was heard.  The movement brought about changes that would not have been made if not for the brave efforts of those who stood against the powers that be and demanded better opportunities and equal opportunity for everyone!
