CUFA, Chicanos Unidos for Action

Chicanos Unidos for Action, CUFA, was an active Chicana/o student organization that was at the University of Southern Colorado, now Colorado State University-Pueblo, during the 1970’s and 1980’s.  Unfortunately there is very little on CUFA in the Colorado Chicano Movement Archives, however there are a few scattered documents on CUFA that can be found throughout the Archives. Although there is little information on CUFA, from what there is it is clear that CUFA has a rich history on the campus of CSU-Pueblo. There is is evidence of activties they hosted such as three days of workshops and for Cinco de Mayo. It is clear that 1979 was a big year for CUFA. The not only boycotted USC education classes, but also hosted one of the first NACCS (National Association of Chicana/Chicano Studies) Conferences, then it was known as NACS (National Association of Chicano Studies). All of this was going on while they were printing issues of their newspaper Educacion es Liberacion.
