Partnerships

Code.org needed to make sure that it has its message delivered by some of the people who will make a difference.  To that extent, it has sought out some big time partnerships.

One of the biggest partnerships is that with President Barack Obama.  The President has been outspoken in his support of math and science.  To that extent, he has lent his support to Code.org by recording a video message for the group.

“Don’t just buy a new video game,” the President said.  “Make one.  Don’t just download the latest app.  Help design it.  Don’t just play on your phone.  Program it.”

Code.org also reached out to a number of other people in government. This included former President Bill Clinton, Senator Marco Rubio, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (“Leaders and Trend-setters).  Others popular culture figures outside of government have also lent their voice, including Chris Bosh and will.i.am (“Film Cast”).

Code.org also received some major corporate partners.  Companies like Amazon, Apple, Electronic Arts, and Google have all joined Code.org in sponsoring its mission.  Other such companies include the College Board, DonorsChoose.org, J.P. Morgan & Chase, and Teach For America (“Partners”).

Each of these partners have allowed Code.org to reach out to people who would not have learned code previously, as well as reach out to schools that do not offer computer science classes.
