Lula Reed

Lula Reed, from Port Clinton, Ohio, was a member of the church choir until she won a contest to choose the lead singer for Sonny Thompson's band. Her first hit at King was  "I'll Drown in My Own Tears," by Henry Glover.

The following year, she recorded the gospel hit, "My Mother's Prayers," with the Harmonaires.
