Hit or Miss: Student Safety at Case Western Reserve University

Emergency Management

The Emergency Management division gives the CWRU community directions to, "ensure students, faculty, staff and visitors are ready if or when a crisis develops on campus." They include directions on how to report as well as plans and procedures for different emergencies[20]

Their staff also includes the Public Safety Communication Center which is the "primary contact for campus police and security, the fire department and emergency medical services." [20] Their job is basically to answer all emergency calls and redirect them to the most practical university department. [20] This department also controls "Rave Alerts" which is a "text and voice messaging alert system that is used only in the case of imminent danger or a serious threat to the campus community." [20]

Lastly, they oversee the CWRU Emergency Medical Service, which is comprised solely of students. [20]
