Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

This copy of The Dance Music of Ireland (1907) was owned by Herbert Halpert. This book, along with a first edition of O’Neill’s Music of Ireland: 400 Choice Selections Arranged for Piano and Violin (1915) also owned by Halpert, are in the UCLA collections. Capturing O'Neill has documented a third O'Neill owned by Halpert - a copy of Irish Minstrels and Musicians that is held in the Herbert Halpert Collection (Halpert 891), in the Queen Elizabeth II Library Special Collections of the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. A biography of Halpert can be found on the Memorial University Library website.
