Ego

Ego why must you weigh me down
I seek to walk in grace
To become my true nature
Let me end this suffering that is life
How can I be in these cruel world
Once i was an Indian
Then I was a tree flowing in the breeze
But am once again stuck
Now how am I to escape this militant, capitalistic west
For am i just a boy
Or am i so much more
Oh ego why must you weigh me down
Like a lead weight, trying to drown me from truth
Oh ego i just want to see nature's secrets
Why must you hold me back from the true me
Pride because I am special
Greed because I am a fool who wants more
Lust because i'm whisked away by pleasure
Envy because i want what others have
Gluttony because i can never have enough
Wrath because I am wicked
Sloth because I am Lazy
Ego break the chains that hold me back
Once the ego is killed then the true nature is revealed
Irony what a game we play
Once again I am returned to the earth
Returned to love to unity
Until i healed then again i sprout a new

Author Statement
My series of poems shows both the human flaw of forgetting how to be and a representation of both the connectedness and randomness of nature. What I mean by this is fundamentally that human being are both an animal and a part of nature. However we have forgotten that this is leading us to cause vast destruction to our natural habitat. One of the many ways humans do this is threw the ego which allows humans to think of themselves as separate instead of part of a whole. This leads to things like greed, slave labor, and the need to feel unique, remembered like time actually matters. When in fact the only thing that matters is the here and now with the harmony of nature. Without everything else humans would have never existed without water humans cannot survive for more than a week. However many humans forget this thinking they are special and invisible. Failing to see the interconnected of nature and how everything relies on something else to keep the chain of life moving in the infant circle that is time. That is the number one reason for the ecological disasters humans face today and in the near future. It is humans lost of duality allowing them to think they are not the same as nature but in fact separate that has lead to this planet's rabid abuse. That is why all my poems may seem random or confusing but they are meant to make the reader question who they really are and where they really came from. My poems give a sense of randomness a sense of perplexing depth just like what nature seems to inhibit. Just like the poem titled all it is a random mash up of all the other poems I wrote representing nature's vastness, complexity, and randomness. However upon further inspection it's realized that all my poems make up the one individual poem meaning even though it seems random you can actually synthesize everything else from it you see the interconnectedness scrambled and hiding in the randomness. As we begin to examine who we truly are as humans.
My poem called Ego is also a reflection of humans going back to their true nature. This is a poem about trying to find bliss and finding it in nature and by being in nature's rhythm. Instead almost all people get stuck up in making up an existence of stress and suffering instead of enjoying as an animal in nature's rhythm where there is no time only now. The gateway is all about looking into the heart and realizing the love of nature and existence. With an open heart is the only way humanity will be able to save this planet called earth from destruction. To realize the eternity of love and existence. How easy it is to forget who you really are is symbolized at the end. Loaded die is about seeing the unity in opposites and the unity in nature.
DSL represents a lot of personal experiences with nature that often lead to many questions about the natural world around me. This has lead me to have a deep respect for the earth. You may be asking yourself how is this green art it just sounds like a bunch of mindless babble green art is about loving the earth and discovering how to coexist that's exactly what these poems try to bring out.
