Discover, Connect & Engage: SIDLIT 2017

By Rebecca Gould, Kansas State University

Discover, Connect & Engage!

SIDLIT 2017 is one of the best values in professional development. The conference held on the Johnson County Community College campus, August 3-4 is an opportunity to learn about innovative tools, concepts and practices from our colleagues. Also, this year on August 2 from 1-5 pm, there will be a preconference focusing on learning management systems.

Discover how to be a better Googler, spot fake news, learn how to SALSA (or use it), create data visualizations and so much more.  Some of the tools that shared are Adobe Spark(TM),virtual and augmented reality, lightboards, Poll Everywhere(TM), ebooks, 360 video cameras, Jing(TM), Zoom(TM), the Google Suite(TM), and the list goes on and on.

Connect with colleagues from around the state and region for presentations on everything from how to build a
computer to creating 360 video images on your phone.

Engage with librarians, faculty, staff, instructional designers, and graduate students from K-12 and higher education

Here's what past presenters have said about SIDLIT:

"SIDLIT is a valuable local conference that I look forward to every year. I always come away with a new idea, contact, or inspiration. I love the casual but focused atmosphere and you
can’t beat the price. I’ve been to conferences all over the country and abroad, and this is one I’ll continue to attend for the foreseeable future."

--Joelle Pitts, Associate Professor,
Instructional Design Librarian, K-State

“I’ve been attending SIDLIT for over ten years. It has been invaluable as a reliable and budget-friendly means for staying abreast with what’s happening in instructional technology and distance learning. The steering committee is to be commended for its tireless work year after year to put on this amazing event.”

-- Carine Ullom, Director
Instructional Design and Academic Technology
Ottawa University
