BVSM: Batman v Sadomasochism

The Metropolis Sequence to Infinity

The first four videos are from Man of Steel and document the majority of the films climatic Metropolis sequence. The next two videos are from the sequel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and re-frame the events of that film from the perspective of Bruce Wayne. The final video attempts to mesh the two together into a cohesive unit.

A consistent project by editors within the fandom has been splicing together the ending and beginning of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Many different versions of this mash up exist on the internet. This one by YouTube user Jon Arryn Garza does the best at meshing to two highly different aesthetics – Amir Mokri’s hand held digitally augmented realist leaning and Larry Fong’s stylized but more conventional Hollywood framing – into something more cohesive. However, that cohesiveness helps to highlight the stark differences between the two when viewed separately. The difference in framing between these two films helps to illustrate the divergent presentation of Man of Steel and the more conventional, and dream like in the context of the film, of Batman v Superman.
