Black Arts at Oxy

Ruth G. Waddy

Hammer Museum knows Ruth G. Waddy humbly as a, "painter, printmaker, and advocate of artistic opportunity" and a "prophet exclaiming the news of black artists and calling upon the world to embrace them."
Waddy worked as a riveter and a clerk before learning the trade of ceramics . After her engagement with art, she quickly jumped into the medium of printmaking and began to take her work cross-country and international.
