Resemblance to a Crucifix

Note the form of the piece is a partial crucifix, commenting on the fragmented use of Christianity in maintaining white control over blacks during the course of U.S. history. However, no element extends higher than the nation's flag, and many skulls take the usual place of a dead Christ. The composition explores the hierarchical relationship between church, nation, and oppressed people.
