Alonzo Davis

Born in Alabama, Alonzo Davis was brother to Dale Davis. Together they both had a major role in forming and running the Brockman Gallery, which was very influential to artists at this time. Working as an artist in addition to helping run a gallery, Davis worked on murals, prints, and assemblage. He drew his inspiration from, "universal symbols with cultural references collected on trips all over the world, from Africa to Western Europe to the Caribbean," (Hammer Museum).
