The New "We Shall Overcome"?

Some assert that “Alright” is the new “We Shall Overcome.” Like in “We Shall Overcome,” the following message is transmitted through the song: With the help and the love of God Black people will persevere, or rather be “alright” and overcome. "Alright" follows in the tradition of many Black anthems in that it functions as a mobilizing tactic and a plea to God (Redmond 3-4).
