Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

The Store still sells handcrafts made by local and nationally known craftspeople, and now shares space with a free gallery focused on social justice issues, bench rentals for people wishing to display their work, and an in-house artist who creates works at the front of the Store. Right now, the in-house artist is Daniel Baxter, who hand crafts unique "Kreepy Dolls."
Downstairs Contemporary Craft still has a workshop, though one quite different from the Sociable Workshop in the 70's. People from the community are invited to come in and pay take classes with craftspeople, and visitors keep the items they make rather than handing them over to be sold in the Store.
However, outreach still of vital importance to Contemporary Craft, it just has a different look. They have outreach programs working with schools, the Women's Shelter in downtown Pittsburgh, and retirement homes. To find out more about these programs and/or Contemporary Craft as a whole, visit their website-
