Ramos- Marble Figurines

Introduction
My exhibition will be about females and males figurines. Figurines in general are an important part of Greek art history . The figurines vary in sizes and shapes. Most of the figurines are in a standing position and some of the early Cycladic figurines has no facial features. Most the figurines are made out of marble and  some of them are in white marble and others have some colors and decorations. All this figurines has different interpretations and differ from one another because they came from different civilizations. This figurines have female and male forms, in the females figurines the breasts were usually highlight.

This is an early Cycladic figurine made out of marble. This figurine might be one of the most important figurines of the Cycladic art history because this figurine is from the Cycladic period c. 2600-2400 BCE. This figurine has the arms folded at the abdomen and the facial features are not well define because what I can see is only the nose but nothing else because it don't have eyes and it also don't have mouth. The height of this figurine is 24 3/4", so the size of it is not to small compare with others figurines. This is a white a marble figurine without color or decorations.

This figurine is different from others one I have seen that are in a standing position with folded arms. This figurine in contrast to others figurines is in a seated position playing a harp. This one is also made out of marble but this one look white, so there were no pigment used on this marble figurine. On this figurine I can see more details and this one have more facial features than the others figurines. On this one the mouth, ears, and eyes are notable. The bodily form of this male figurine is well define.

This figurines are from the Mycenaean civilization and this figurines possess certain features of the Cycladic  figurines. The  Terracotta figurines were as popular as the Cycladic ones. The figurine in the left have folded arms as the Cycladic figurines.  This figurines in contrast to the Cycladic figurines have some decorations. This three figurines are wearing long dresses and it is hard to tell if their feet are defined.

This Terracotta figurine is decorated and is dressed. The way I interpreted this figurine is as a women praying. It look that she is carrying something in top of her head. This is a clay based figurine.
