Allied Occupation of Japan 1945-1952: Perceptions from Heaven and Earth

Historiography

The historiography of this topic has evolved from looking at the occupation as a tragedy or through the lens of policy making. To now historians look at the occupation through its reforms, this leads to the occupation being looked at as more of a history rather than just policies or just as an unfortunate circumstance. In addition, to this history many historians have begun to look at the narrower topics of the occupation such as the role of gender, race, and personal perceptions. [21]
