Alice Online: The Works and World of Lewis Carroll

Introduction

ALICE ONLINE: THE WORKS AND WORLD OF LEWIS CARROLL is an online exhibition devoted to the works of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, the author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, who wrote under the pen name Lewis Carroll. Using digital images from USC’s Cassady Collection of Lewis Carroll materials, including editions of Dodgson’s most famous works, this evolving exhibit explores the world of Lewis Carroll, including the way his works have been adapted and translated into new mediums, formats, and languages. It also includes biographical information about Dodgson and his subjects, including his extensive work as a mathematician and photographer.

In its first iteration, the exhibit draws on work from students in our Fall, 2020 senior English seminar, who spent the semester learning about Dodgson and studying USC’s collections. That work will be extended by later seminars.
