Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

What made Aadhar as Mandatory
On November 8, 2016 the Indian government made an announcement that all the higher denomination currency will become invalid and everyone has to deposit these currencies into their bank accounts. This decision was taken to curb the black money in India. The success of the demonetization is not yet known. However, the administration took a decision that if the aadhaar number is linked with all the government schemes and PAN card, it will become quite easy for them to track the financial status of a person. So that, only poor people will get the benefits. On March 16, 2017 the government officially told that the aadhaar number should be linked with PAN card to catch the tax evaders.
