Sexual Assault Discourse: The Role of Poetry in a Post-Structuralist World

Women are oppressed! Sexual assault is WILD!

Rape culture has been present essentially forever, and the target has (mainly) been placed on women. The ways they have been objectified, weakened, oppressed, undermined, and taken advantage of throughout the history of the world is unbelievably frustrating and saddening – and ultimately, terrifying. It makes us question – is every system of our society based upon the patriarchal power over women? What has changed in our society to suddenly break the silence? I don’t want to get too political, but we definitely cannot ignore the political aspect of this issue because of our fucking president who’s literally a huge fucking misogynist and rapist and everything is bullshit.
