Yannick: So who did you-who did you decide to write to?

Lect: I did—decided to write to Mister. Khalid Al Bey. And he's the creator of Khartooni. K-H-A-R-T-O-O-N-I. And basically he's Sudanese, as I am. He's a graphic artist—he's a cartoon artist actually. And the reason I admire him is, he emits that Sudanese artistry that we lack in our culture. And see as I'm a multi-media designer myself, I see there's a connection. So that's why I you know—it's each one teach one, so he's teaching me subliminally, telling me that "look, I'm doing this, you should do this too. You should emit your creative artistry." And that's why I chose him.

Yannick: Now how did you choose him, as opposed to someone else? Someone—so you chose someone/

Lect: /he connects with me, because he's Sudanese as I told you, and uh it's good to see someone —your brother, like I see him as a brother, he's my older brother, I look at him as my older brother—it's good to see him rise. So, if he rises I rise. So, it's a mutual thing.

Yannick: Can you think of anyone else you didn't write to?

Lect: My own brother. But my own brother I tell him he's great every day, so he doesn't need it.

Yannick: Where is he?

Lect: He's in Nigeria. He works as a-a marketing manager.

Yannick: And how did you guys end up separate? Why is he not here?

Lect: Uh he works—he works in Nigeria, as I just told you. He works as a marketing manager—he like he used to work in Etisalat—Etisalait Nigeria, he's the second deep. So that's why I don't see him that much. He comes every month, but still—it's dangerous there, but .. I just want to tell him he's my hero. I look up to him.

Yannick: Wh-when he's gone, do you miss him?

Lect: Of course. Everyday.

Yannick: And what's that feel like for you?

Lect: (exhales) aaaah feel.. kind of empty because_ I always looked up to him. Always. Always. And he's my driving force to actually live life because he's sacrificing everything just to go there for the family. So that's why I like—I look up to him.

Yannick: And when you feel that missing, uh—so say I was a doctor.

Lect: Sure.
00:02:28-7
Yannick: And you had no idea what was going on, you had never felt this before.

Lect: oh

Yannick: Explain it to me, as in—what's going with you, like physically, and what are you feeling?

Lect: I'll simply tell—say that I don't have a heart. Missing heart.

Yannick: … alright. Um, well that's pretty much it. Just for the sake of this, do you want to tell me a little about yourself?

Lect: Oh my name is Ammar [ _______ ]. Um, I'm Sudanese, I'm 23. Um, born March 26th 1990. (inhale) Uh, I'm an MC, I'm a producer, I'm a multi-media designer, and, well ..—that's it. (laugh)

Yannick: Great! Awesome. Thank you so much, man.

Lect: God bless.
