Day 3 - February 3rd - Wednesday

On Wednesday at 12:45am, final negotiations were finally settled between the Five-College administrations and the representative students from the five colleges. Celebrations soon followed with a "Victory is ours!" chant and embrace.  Since the amnesty was scheduled at midnight that Tuesday, the students prepared to leave once the negotiations were set. Some students, however, felt as though they had been sold out, as if the student negotiators had not fought harder to make the solutions for their demands permanent and consistent. They felt this strongly towards the hiring of a professor to teach Hispanic/Chicano studies. They responded to this "sellout" feeling by marching to the Scripps President's house at 2:30am. This protest was finalized around 3am.

Later on that day, there were various discussion settings that not only geared towards speaking about the events that occurred in the past two days, but also in informing the community about the results of the negotiations. Compromises included the appointment of a Black Studies professor, plans to form an Asian American Studies program in an intercollegiate level, and top priority for Scripps College to search for Hispanic/Chicano Studies professor, all with their own respective and timely deadlines to accomplish each goal.

When it came to the students of Liberation and Education to speak their thoughts about the conclusion of the protests, they first and foremost apologized for "any inconvenience caused by the takeover...Nevertheless, we feel the accomplishments of the day justify the inconvenience." (Members stated this to Kim Gilmore for the Liberation through Education article in The Other Side.)
