Directions for Navigation

“Communicable Disease” is both about networks and constructed through them. The following are a few quick tips for how one might navigate through the complexity.

1)   The project contains three main sections:

o   Introduction

o   Point 1 (“copy machines”)

o   Point 2 (“the subject and the swarm”)

2)   Each of these sections is constructed as a “path” and contains within it a multiplicity of pages, media, and citations.

3)   On the page after the introductory abstract page, there is a map of all paths, pages, tags, and media which you can use to orient yourself within the writing space should you ever get lost.

4)   To go from one page to the next within a path, click on the     button at the bottom right of the screen.

5)    To move backward within a path, click on the  button at the bottom left of the screen.

6)   To orient yourself within a specific section, click on the button at the bottom middle of the screen (i.e. ) to arrive at a screen that displays all parts of the current section, as well as a sequential list of the pages within that path.

7)   Finally, for the sake of coherence, I suggest that you read each of these sections in order along the linear paths that I have architected. However, there is nothing to stop the user from reading the work non-linearly; and in such alternative modes of interactive, interesting affects may be produced.
