Hacking Standard Procedures
As a hacktavist and committed educator, Ricardo Dominguez has made a tactic of using procedures in ways that challenge the dominant narrative. After a march with supporters to one of his interrogations by the university, Dominguez turned the moment of inquiry into a teaching moment. In a session in which he alone is meant to face the questions of those investigating him, he stands with his supporters and becomes a conduit for their questions of the accusers.
Dominguez's hacktavist modus operandi uses a procedure, a systematic execution, as a moment for intervention. Similarly, the Electronic Disturbance Theater have written code of the Transborder
Immigrant Tool that reframes the narratives of undocumented immigrants,
removing them from the hate-filled rhetoric of rants against the
illegals, and positions them as users of tool in need of its life-saving
aid.
