Teatro 67
Teatro 67 was the first Spanish salita in Miami. Miguel Ponce rented a suite on the second floor of this building which had been built a few years before in 1961 in what was an empty lot during the 1950s.
Although the space was very well-located --in the very heart of Little Havana, close to downtown, and with parking-- Ponce had a rough beginning, perhaps because he was not a good administrator, as a letter from Cecilio Noble to Herberto Dumé suggests. Teatro 67 had 70 seats and it opened with the comedy, ¡No..., por favor! with the hopes that a comedy would keep the space afloat.
