Shulamit Gallery: About Shulamit Nazarian

Shulamit Nazarian, creator and owner of Shulamit Gallery, has a broad background in multiple fields, including art, architecture and philanthropy. At the age of 15, she and her family moved to Israel and quickly migrated to America, residing in the city of Los Angeles. While living in Iran, many in Shulamit’s extended family were interested and involved in antique furniture and paintings. Additionally, she was constantly exposed to art, as her mother was both taking art classes, as well as creating unique, beautiful flower arrangements and clothing. Although she was surrounded by this type of art throughout her life, it was not until she took a course in architecture at Beverly Hills High School that she grew an interest in this field. She later furthered her education by studying architecture at the University of Southern California and completing her degree at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She then returned to Los Angeles, and worked at Wilson & Associates, a renowned interior design firm. After getting married and having children, Shulamit distanced herself from the field of art and architecture, but soon returned to it when her children grew older. Once she re-entered the field of architecture and art, Shulamit’s passion and interest in contemporary art and homes further developed, which led her to the purchase of her new home, designed by the world-renowned architect, A. Quincy Jones. Since the house was designed for an art collector, Shulamit began to show art exhibitions within her Holmby Hills home. She later purchased and renovated a Venice beach home for the expansion of the Shulamit Gallery.
