Mastaneh Moghadam: Intergenerational Conflict

Through the joining of their identities, Mastaneh and her husband run a Persian/ American household that instills “Jewish family values.” Together, they created “Boback and Friends,” a cartoon that aimed at educating children from immigrant families on the significance of taking pride in one’s heritage, while embracing American culture as well. Mastaneh acknowledges that the basis of her clientele list involves parents who do not know how to go about raising their children in a Persian household while living in the United States. With her own child, Mastaneh aims at introducing “the beauty of it all.” She hopes that her child learns to truly love who she is and ultimately play out her identity however she herself decides to do so without giving in to the pressures of societal expectations.
