Mastaneh Moghadam: Accomplishments at Jewish Family Services
Mastaneh’s main concentration in her line of work is domestic violence. During her time at Jewish Family Services, Mastaneh’s main interest was with the middle eastern community and she worked with many of them, including those that she refers to as the “sandwiched” generation of Iranians that came to the United States as young adults a few decades ago and who are now in their 40s or 50s. Mastaneh focused particularly on targeting domestic abuse in Iranian Jewish families through various programs and still provides lectures and training today. Due to all the research she created and programming she created at Jewish Family Services, Mastaneh was able to gain enough statistical information on the Iranian Jewish community and was granted a large contract from the Department of Mental Health that funded aid for low-income Iranians.
