David Rahimian is a first-generation Iranian Jewish American. He was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and earned his B.A in Political Science from California State University, Northridge. During his years as an undergraduate, David was active in various local campaigns including those for Mayor, City Council, and California State Assembly. After graduating, he became Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s representative for the West San Fernando Valley area, and soon thereafter, he became the mayor’s special assistant. In 2008, David joined the Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs team at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the nation’s largest municipally-owned utility. As an Iranian American, David is involved in the Los Angeles Norooz Celebration Committee, which celebrates the Persian New Year at Los Angeles City Hall every year. In addition to his work with the city of Los Angeles, David is involved in philanthropic work. David currently sits on the Legislative Advisory Committee of ETTA, a non-profit organization that provides programs and services enabling people with disabilities to live fully enriched, independent and active lives.
