In order to establish a dynamic, passionate community, JQ formed an Advisory Committee at the end of 2006, striving to implement a wider variety of programs and services. The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles rewarded this committee’s demonstrated motivation and excellent work ethic with a Cutting Edge Grant in August 2007. This grant gave JQ the means to enhance its professionalism, increase its programming, and better develop membership diversity.

In April 2008, before the year’s Passover celebration, JQ was able to launch a two­-year project in collaboration with the Institute for Judaism and Sexual Orientation, creating a LGBT Haggadah. Before this event, there had never been a similarly inclusive haggadah. After a couple of months, JQ formed an Inclusion Consulting program to provide guidance for Jewish clergy, lay leaders, and institutions to better benefit and incorporate LGBT Jews throughout the larger Jewish community. Shortly thereafter, in order to provide an environment in which members could appreciate and enjoy Jewish traditions, JQ hosted their first Shabbat Dinner—the initial gathering that eventually developed into the JQ Community Table.
