JQ Today

With several successful programs in place by March 2010, JQ was able to shift its focus to promoting inclusion of the Transgender Jewish community. JQ established the Transgender Jewish Advocacy Committee the first of its kind that aimed to implement more programs for the Trans Jewish population. Within one year, thanks to a Natan/NEXT Grant for Social Entrepreneurs from a Birthright Israel Foundation, JQ established a 2wice Blessed Project. This digital program highlights positive stories and photos relevant to the worldwide Jewish Queer community.

Due to the organization’s sustained success, JQ become an inaugural member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles’ Community Partnership Program in December 2011. Partnering with the Federation in May 2013, JQ organized the firstever LGBT and Ally TaglitBirthright Israel trip. It is important to recognize that JQ is the sole Jewish organization that not only serves the LGBT community, but is also transdenominational. JQ has influenced over 8,500 people, and provides cultural and social events and programs that reflect Jewish principles and standards. By supplying further valuable programming, advocacy for a positive Queer and Jewish message, advanced educational opportunities, and the necessary resources to achieve these goals, JQ is bound for continued success.
