Woman Life Freedom Uprising

Hatcher Stanford

My name is Hatcher and I've lived and studied in my hometown my whole life, except for the summer of 2024 in which I studied Arabic in Amman, Jordan. I have been studying Arabic since I was 14, and in my 7 years of study I have arrived at the conclusion that at the end of the day I study Arabic to make friends. Unfortunately making friends is not a major at my university where I often study the Middle East alongside many who aspire to work for the US State Department. However my interests align more with providing legal or economic support to those who need it in the Middle East (e.g.), which predicates studying the most accurate version of ancient and modern history available, so here I am. My hometown is often called "the live music capital of the world", and indeed I saw my first concert before I was conscious. Now that I am fully conscious I play the guitar (Mexican Stratocaster), the bass (American P-bass), but my true love is crate digging for samples. With respect to this digital resource, my best friend growing up was (and likely still is) Persian, so whenever I went over to his house I was lucky enough to eat Tahdig or Ghormeh Sabzi, and sometimes when I was really lucky his mother would invite me to cook with her. My favorite Farsi word I learned while spending countless hours with my friend and his family is the ever-useful and thus, ever-used "Khafe Sho".
