Toku Shimomura Diary 9

Apr. 27
I went downtown because I still had some things to shop for. Yoichi and Fumi came over and helped us do various things. I felt very busy and became very tired. We spent all day in a rush. Finally I went for a final farewell at Hart’s Drugstore. When I heard the kind words “please come back quickly and return to work,” tears again overflowed. At night we said goodbye to our neighbor Americans. Everybody cried for us. There should not be a difference in human hearts. Tears flowed. I pray from the bottom of my heart that peace will come as early as possible.
