Rain at dawn. Clear during the day. I energetically did the laundry… In the afternoon I went to the [Japanese American] Citizen’s League with Papa to go through the formalities of property registration. After all of these procedures were finished we were told that the Citizen’s League would send us notifications later. We felt relieved and entrusted ourselves to them with a sense of security. We returned home. I felt tormented by the news concerning the serious disaster in Singapore. Once again I felt restless over the debate about removing coastal Japanese 500 miles to the hinterlands. I can only leave everything to providence and be thankful for today. Again, at night, we had a heavy rain…
