Biography:
Il Lee’s most notable works to date have evolved from his innovative and unique ballpoint pen work on canvas. Working with line and form in acrylic and ballpoint ink, his works take on a life as investigations in process and dimension. Il Lee is based out of Brooklyn, New York and even his most recent works continue his early investigations that have evolved since his training in university. Each work is a new inquiry into negative and positive space through simple line and form. He has created an oeuvre of divergent yet cohesive works that are instantly recognizable. The richness of the ink in the ballpoint works takes something typically ordinary and alters its form to that of the extraordinary.
