Summer

John Macy

The untold treasures are oft concealed parts
So that complacent eyes cannot ruin
Beauty which is reserved for patient hearts
Such that effort proves a fool’s undoing

and you who bear the crippling winters
Rejoice that God has at once laid for rest
and radiance penetrates like cinders
so Apollo’s great jewel ascends his best

O that temporal crack which breaks the skies
It stands as tall as Atlas but know this
It lifts twice as heavy and hardly tries
Because innocence lies in such a bliss

It transcends to be so intoxicating
That it leaves no choice but God creating
John Macy is pursuing a Baccalaureate of Philosophy.
